Safety tips

Your safety matters more than any match.
Before you meet
- Chat in the app and try a voice or video call first.
- Look for verification ticks, and ask for more if something feels off.
- Never send money, gift cards, crypto or investment "opportunities", whatever the story.
- Keep personal details (home address, workplace, finances) private until you trust someone.
When you meet
- Meet in a busy public place and arrange your own transport.
- Use Date check-in in the app so a trusted contact knows where you are.
- Stay in control of your drink and your belongings.
- Leave whenever you want. You owe nobody an explanation.
If something goes wrong
- Block and report from the profile or chat menu. Reports are confidential.
- If you are in danger, call local emergency services (112 in India).
- In India, the women's helpline is 181 and the cyber crime helpline is 1930.
LGBTQ+ safety
In some countries same-sex relationships are criminalised. There, Zap keeps your orientation private, shows distance only as "Nearby" and turns on discreet mode by default. Be careful with people who are not verified.
